Marketing Internship, Chennai, India

by vinay  on   22 Sep 2011

As part of our plans to grow our operations, we are looking for promising interns who can work as Marketing Coordinators.

While we have the marketing know-how and the sales strength, we need smart young people who can execute our ideas in these areas. We’re thus looking for people who are energetic, can understand markets quickly and communicate clearly.

We have products that do most of the selling themselves, so your job is that much easier, and that much more fun! The team is comprised of some of the most interesting people you’ll come across in the city. And the icing on the cake? – a monthly paycheck. So if you want to take a shot at this enviable position, and subsequently a possible full time position at Tenmiles, shoot an email to jobs@tenmiles.com and tell us why you think you’ll fit this role. Be sure to include your mobile number. A resume is optional but make sure it’s in PDF format if you send it.

Visualize the Helpdesk Pilot experience

by Vikram  on   23 Feb 2011

Our first stop motion video created for a Tenmiles product, Helpdesk Pilot, is now out!

We’ve been working on this for over 2 months, with Karthik & his team at Brand New, and it’s such an awesome feeling to see the final video. Everyone involved in the production really deserves a round of applause!

The aim of the video is to introduce Helpdesk Pilot and provide viewers with a creative look at the core functionalities of the product.

Check it out! Once you’ve seen it, please leave a comment and let us know what you think!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

by Vikram  on   21 Feb 2011

We’d like to introduce you to our new app for the new year.

For those of you familiar with the range of web-apps from the house of Tenmiles, the question circling within your mind right now is probably “But wait, isn’t Helpdesk Pilot an existing product of theirs?”. Rightly so, it is.

A year ago, we began planning the next stage of feature additions and enhancements to our flagship product, a help desk management software that was assisting businesses world wide in managing their support services more efficiently. Excitement levels were high as we discussed all the must-have features the new upgrade should ideally have.

We went back to the basics, wiped our whiteboard clean and began designing the product from the ground up, keeping in mind the fundamental pillars on which it had initially been built.

Helpdesk Pilot has now been re-engineered entirely on the Python-Django platform (moving away from PHP, on which Helpdesk Pilot has been historically built) and passionately designed in line with the Tenmiles’ ethos:

“to develop web based software products aimed at adding value to the manner in which businesses and individuals make use of the web”

A slew of new and radically revamped features make their way into V5, the latest release of Helpdesk Pilot, and the refreshed platform architecture gives us the ability to build in new capabilities much quicker. Do have a look at helpdeskpilot.com to see more of what’s on offer.

We have a more aggressive take on going global this year. On that note, we’re exhibiting at CeBIT 2011, where we’ll be launching Helpdesk Pilot V5 to a world audience.

If you happen to be in Hannover, Germany between March 1-5, it would be a pleasure to have you drop by our booth.

Leave us a comment and we’ll get in touch. We hear temperatures are in the sub-zero range, so be sure to bring a jacket or two!

A new app for the new year

by Vikram  on   03 Feb 2011

2011 sure has gotten off to a flying start! It’s hard to believe we’re already a month into the new year.

Then again, adding the final touches to our upcoming app release has kept us a tad busy.

That’s right folks. Tenmiles is gearing up to finally take the wraps off our most intensive web-app development project till date. We went back to the basics and pooled in every element of creativity and technical expertise in giving life to this product. From jotting down ideas on our whiteboard, to reviewing UI designs and now being able to see the product in action, we’re at a stage where the anxiety and excitement levels couldn’t possibly get any higher.

When product development got underway last year, the Tenmiles team swore to maintain utmost secrecy up until it was ready to be released. Although we tried to stick to the code as much as we could, a certain somebody couldn’t resist the urge to let out a hint now and then.

That’s alright though. It’s understandable to have an uncontrollable urge to shout out to the world, when you have something great to tell. Or rather, a great thing or two to tell.

With that, the countdown begins. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement from Tenmiles.

Location is everything

by Vikram  on   02 Nov 2010

When deciding on the best location for your business, what are the key factors that you would typically keep in mind?

  • Image; is the location perceived by customers as a place they would visit, such as a Central Business District
  • Accessibility; will the location be within acceptable commuting distances for your staff
  • Gastronomy; how well do restaurants encircling the location resemble a hub and spoke model

There are many more factors to consider, but over at Tenmiles, we hold gastronomy in high regard.

Food is a necessary part of our daily existence but the quality of food defines the manner in which we both enjoy it and respond to discussions we may be involved in. Here at Tenmiles (and we’re pretty sure the same applies to many of you as well), the majority of our product ideas are usually conceived over informal discussions between 1-2pm and 4-6pm. That’s not to say we don’t ideate during the remaining parts of the day, but statistics show that a number of our pivotal decisions have taken shape during these times.

A closer inspection reveals that the common denominator in all these ideating sessions has been the presence of good food. Although it wasn’t a key factor in selecting #1, Nungambakkam High Road as the home of Tenmiles, the proximity to some of the city’s finest dining joints has grown to become a crown jewel.

Whether its a thin-crust pizza over lunch or a well sized grilled sandwich as an evening snack, the ability to source good food within easy reach allows us to satisfy our gastronomical desires, feed our brains and ensure that our ideas keep growing and eventually take shape.

Good food surely does lead to great ideas, especially if your workplace fosters an informal, team oriented culture. So if you happen to be on the lookout for a location to house your HQ, be sure to sniff out the surrounding areas for popular eat out joints.

On the contrary, if you’re well settled in your current location, how important is your need for good food? We’d love to know!
